ABOUT STIRLING CANOE CLUB
HOME

Stirling Canoe Club was formed on 28th August 1990 by a group of local paddlers. Their initial goal was to set up a club within the Stirling area. The people involved had almost no qualifications to take people on trips or funds to build up any equipment. Their initial get together has turned the small few local paddlers into an almost Global club. Global due to the contacts have been made, from America, France, Germany and even Australia.

The founder members started off using their own equipment. In time they attended training courses and gained qualifications which enabled them to instruct the growing numbers of people who joined the club. From virtually nothing the club has built up a MEMBERSHIP second to none, EQUIPMENT for all aspects of the sport, INSTRUCTORS, annual functions and probably the most important of all, a club that can interact socially both on and off the water.

STIRLING CANOE CLUB has grown considerably since its days of borrowing kit and training on cold Lochs and other water ways. We now have access to a swimming pool for normal coaching and Canoe Polo Training, a fleet of boats, many experienced coaches and paddlers, annual social events, yearly trips to Fort William and France, Canoe polo teams in Div two and many many more. What was once a small idea, capturing the imagination of many people, has now established itself as STIRLING CANOE CLUB.
